We cant thank you enough for all of your donations. Your support means a lot to the both of us.
This year we managed to raise $1780 for Fisher House, in a race that raised a total of $105,000. That places Fisher House as our second highest charity fundraiser behind Wounded Warriors Project in 2009.
Because of you guys we were among the top 10 fundraisers, and received a significant amount of thanks from the Fisher House staff at the race. We couldn't have done it without all of your generosity, and would like to pass on that thanks to you. We also recieved the mosaic print shown above as thanks. Each tiny picture is of a runner running in a Fisher House shirt (like Jules' to the left).
Race day was beautiful down in D.C. Jules and I both ended up running fast races. I was over a minute under my previous best time, and Jules dropped her time by eight minutes exactly! My team also placed very well in the team competition; all in all, it was a great day.

Fisher House, The Army Ten Miler, and 2011:
The Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes" around military and VA medical centers for use by military families. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at one of the most stressful times - during the service members hospitalization.
The motto of Fisher House is "because a family’s love is good medicine" and there are currently 54 fisher houses located in the United States and two in Germany. Their goal is to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 12,000 families, and have made available over three million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. No family pays to stay at any Fisher House!
The funds raised from the Team Fisher House at the 2011 Army Ten-Miler Campaign will benefit the construction of a new Fisher House at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to provide “a home away from home” for the families of Veterans receiving medical treatment there.

Why Fisher House?
The Buller Family, 2011
During his second tour in Afghanistan, a close friend of mine, Captain Buller, was severely wounded by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that sadly cost the 101st Airborne 6 soldiers. Upon his return to the States, he was sent to a hospital at Fort Gordon, nearly 500 miles from his family.
His wife, children, and parents were all able to take advantage of the generosity of the Fisher House near the hospital during his recovery there. They provided a place to stay and child-care services free of charge, allowing them to focus on the most important thing: his recovery.
